The current educational and economic situation in Nicaragua is hard for many people to imagine without seeing the country firsthand.
Nicaragua remains the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere and the poorest Spanish speaking country in the world
- Approximately half of Nicaraguans do not graduate from 6th grade
- Nicaragua has the one of the highest primary student to teacher ratios in Latin America
While many classrooms in Nicaragua do not have basic resources, Nicaraguan students and families are still determined to learn and can do so with a small amount of help. We’ve seen this firsthand at our educational community center. We know it’s possible to help change the level of education in Nicaragua one community at a time, and we will continue to do this by providing the resources that students and teachers need most.
