Is there a specific experience that initially drew you to Latin America?

After graduating from college, I spent six months doing volunteer work in Cartagena, Colombia, during which time I lived in a three bedroom house with 20 non-English speakers from South America.  I figured that if I could survive that experience and actually enjoy it, Latin America was the place for me.
